Hello! Before we begin here, I request that you consider this entry as a prequel to all the others as it is the chronological beginning of the RVLATION journey.
Now with that established, I believe that purpose is the most powerful driver of action. That statement has been proven true in the most beautiful way approximately 2000 years ago when Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross to take away the sins of the world. When he rose three days later, defeating death, he met with his disciples and gave them a purpose: tell the world. It may have sounded easy but it was the furthest thing from it. Eleven out of the twelve disciples were killed for their faith and trying to spread it around the world.
Why? Why would they lay down their lives like that while trying to save the souls of others? The answer is that they were given a purpose greater than themselves ordained by God.
My original intent behind starting a clothing brand (before even coming up with the name) was not nearly as purpose filled as it should have been. I wanted money. Like most of my peers, I saw social media posts glorifying making money one’s God. I won’t lie it looked really fun to live such a lifestyle with the world’s finest everything at your fingertips.
So yes that was the original goal, and the first plan was drop-shipping alien looking slides from overseas at the cheapest price possible. There was no consideration of values or a higher purpose in this and it didn’t feel authentic.
After developing a better relationship with God, I took a look at what my plans were and felt a conviction to change them. I decided I needed a set of values holding RVLATION up, otherwise it would be a soulless company without any purpose. I decided to make my venture about God, and ensure that every action RVLATION took follows the will of God. What that means Is I needed the whole supply chain to show respect to all those involved ensuring fair practices throughout. The modern fashion industry too often views ethics as an after thought, which is a key problem plaguing the industry. By employing a passionate supply chain dedicated to ethics throughout, I can ensure I have a purpose: serve God.
